Pantai Minyak Beku

At a glance, Pantai Minyak Beku looks just like any other beach. Its strange name actually comes from its history. Back in time, Siamese soldiers arrived on the beach and looked for water by digging a well. However, instead of water, they found thick oil – hence the name of the beach.

Look for the historical plaque that is placed by the Tourism Ministry for more information about the origin of the well and its link to the town’s name. Picnicking, fishing and enjoying the sunset or sunrise are some of the activities you can enjoy at Pantai Minyak Beku.

At the village, there is also a ferry terminal where you can hire a fisherman for a short boat ride to Pulau Silju, a small island nearby. Be sure to stock up on drinks and snacks from the shops before you go!
